Funny Bridger Story....

A couple weeks ago, Brad was watching Owen while I was resting. He was being fussy for his dad and usually won't calm down for anyone but me. Bridger came into the living room and said to his dad "hand him to me I will take care of him." Brad handed Owen to Bridger (with Brad's help of course) Bridger held Owen and said "it is okay Baby Owen, your big brother has you." Owen stopped crying and looked at Bridger. Then Bridger turned to his dad and said "that is how you calm down a baby dad."

Bridger is such a cute big brother and he is protective of his little brother and his sister (for the most part).

I love my kids they make each day better!

Birth Announcement

So I decided to make Owen's Birth Announcement digitally. I hand made Bridger's and Macie's but have really enjoyed the digital ones I have seen recently.

I did this on my own. Let me know what you think.

2 Week Appointment

Owen had his 2 week appointment today (he is officially 2 weeks old tomorrow).
Here are his stats:

Weight: 6 lbs 16 oz
Length: 20.5 inches
Head: 14 inches

The doctor said he has great color, so the Jaundice is gone. Yippee! He said he looks good.

Now for the not so great news, Owen has Thrush and has to be on a medicine that takes orally for the next two weeks. I also have to be treated since I am nursing. Oh the joys of motherhood. Also he wants me to come in next week and have Owen weighed since he isn't back to his birth weight. This could be caused from the thrush, so I have to take him next week with the hopes that he will have gained at least 8 oz. With as much and as often as he eats, I am not worried.

He is already growing so fast!

Similar

It amazes me how much my kids looked like each other at birth. I didn't realize it until I pulled up Macie's pictures because we were deciding which one of my kids had the most hair at birth. (Macie did for sure with Owen in a close second) Any way I pulled up one of Bridger too and it was amazing the similarities each one had. The funny thing is so far my kids don't look anything like they did when they were born.

Jaundice

Owen went to the doctors yesterday because when we left the hospital his billirubin was on the border of being too high. The results came back and he had a high level so they decided it was time for the billilights to come to our house. Bridger had jaundice too and we had the tanning bed. The exact same one with the exact same goggles. I cried and cried with Bridger, probably because the doctor told me I needed to nurse him better than I was. Not sure if he meant it bad or not but I took it bad and felt like it was my fault. This time I didn't cry and I have been pretty tough. It is taking allot out of me because when he is in the bed one of us have to be awake and Brad went back to work today so I was the one. I think that is why it is taking longer to recover this time because of the lack of rest I am getting because of the two little ones I have already. Having three kids is an adjustment but not as big of one as going from one to two. Well at least not yet.

Owen Bradford Robbins

Needless to say the past five days have been eventful. It all started Wednesday with my first weekly doctors visits. I went in to find out that I was already dilated to a 3 and effaced to 80%. No big deal, people keep telling me that it doesn't mean he is coming soon. All it means is that my body is getting ready. All day Thursday, I experienced contractions about 10 to 15 minutes apart all day, but they never got stronger or closer together. We went to find out what Brad's parents needed us to do as they were getting ready to head to Driggs, ID for the next week. Brad's mom kept telling me I needed to wait for them to get back. I told her I would try, but if he decided to come then he would come. On Friday I was still having contractions about 10 minutes apart all day. I left work planning on returning on Tuesday. I went and got my nails done and my glitter toes done. Joking around with my cousin that we got them done just in time for him to come that night. Then about 10 minutes before I headed home Brad called to tell me that his parents van died on the way to Idaho and they were stranded in McCammon, ID and he had to go get them. I insisted on going with him as I was still having the contractions. We loaded up the car with the kids and drove to McCammon (about a 2 hour drive each way). My contractions stayed 10 minutes apart until we reached Logan and then they started to get closer. They were now 8 minutes apart. We reached Brad's parents loaded up their stuff and headed home (it took about an hour to get their trailer and stuff loaded). By then my contractions were about 6 to 7 minutes apart. I started to worry and we started heading home. They got even closer and we arrived after 2 hours of them being 5 minutes apart back in Salt Lake at 1 am. Brad's parents kept Bridger and Macie and we headed to the hospital. We were the fourth pregnant women to arrive within that hour and we were all considered pre-term. They monitored me expecting me to go home, but when they checked on me an hour later, I was dilated to a 4, then an hour later to a 5. At 4 am they admitted me and decided I was going to deliver. Well needless to say they checked me every hour and at noon I hadn't progressed any more, they considered sending me home, but they weren't sure if my water had broken or developed a leak so they waited on the doctor (who wasn't mine because they couldn't reach him). They gave me the decision to go home and probably come back later or stay and be put on pitosin. Brad and I decided to stay and seven hours later Owen entered the world. He weighed 7lbs 5 oz and he was 19.25 inches long. The nurses said he didn't look or act like a preemie. His blood sugar kept dropping so we worked hard to get that raised. We are now home and we are doing well. Bridger and Macie are in love with their new baby brother and they are glad we are all home. It was a crazy adventure, but it all ended well.
